You can reach Lanzarote by traveling west from the coast of Africa, along the Iberian Peninsula to be accurate. It is approximately 125 kilometers west from the point of origin and if you started in the right spot, you might just find yourself on the Island of Lanzarote. Lanzarote Island is situated in the northeastern most of the Canary Islands. It is in fact the fourth largest island among the chain. Even though the island is situated near Africa, this island belongs to Spain.

Preferably, airlines are the mode of transportation for you to reach the Island of Lanzarote. This way will provide you a fast and stress free arrival. You will most likely land at Arrecife International Airport. This international airport has a record of five and a half million tourists in the year of 2006 alone.

Agriculture is indeed one of their sources of livelihood. In fact the island is bountiful enough to export some of their products to the neighboring islands and countries. Along with agriculture, the tourism industry also pulls the islands economy. Their tourism is booming since they opened it 50 years ago.

If you are planning to spend your holidays in Lanzarote Island, you don’t need to worry too much on wearing thick clothing and covering yourself with blankets at night during their winter season. The temperature could drop as low as 14 degrees centigrade, Night time in the winter can drop as low as 14 degrees centigrade, but would hardly ever drop below that, making it nice and warm ideal for your holidays. The temperature during their summer season could rise up to 32 degrees centigrade, but will not exceed more than 33 degrees centigrade. The cooling trade winds of the North Atlantic permit this temperate climate, keeping it from rising as high as the nearby Sahara, and keeping the climate pleasant and beautiful.

Relatively recent eruptions that occurred in the 18th and 19th Centuries, have left parts of the Lanzarote landscape looking deviant or crescent shaped, and the lack of erosion because of the low precipitation rate means that these incredible landscapes look much like they did just after the eruptions. The areas are magnificent, with a unique landscape that attracted thousands of tourists around the world as well as many film makers. In fact, this is the shooting place of the Planet of the Apes.

Except for the Grand Hotel in Arrecife the buildings and infrastructures of the island are maintained on a moderate level in terms of height. This is well maintained by the local agencies. There are also no billboards around the island. Lanzarote is lovely and stunning and obviously popular among tourists all over the world, though it is undoubtedly populated because of its tourism. Take a visit to the island for you to see the Hameos del Agua, the popular cave with natural concert hall, museum and restaurant with an underground lagoon. There are man made attractions as well, both created long time ago and modern. You can pay a visit to the Wine Museum of Lanzarote, or check out the Castillo de San Gabriel in Arrecife, which is a 16th Century fortress overlooking the Arricife Harbor. No matter what your tastes, you are sure to find something pleasing in Lanzarote.
